Just how tall are the turbines?

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

The proposed turbines will be 120 metres (400 feet) tall, which is the maximum currently allowed by law. That makes them about the same height as a 30 storey block of flats and the Express Lift tower in Northampton.

The sweep of the enormous 90 metre blades would be big enough to fly a 747 jumbo jet through!

As the A14 passes within metres of the proposed Kelmarsh windfarm site, they will be a highly visible distraction for drivers, creating a potential accident hazard as the sun glints off those massive 90 metre blades.

Be in no doubt, they will be visible for miles around.

Will you be able to see the Kelmarsh Wind Farm?

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

We have produced a diagram showing the areas that the proposed Kelmarsh Wind Farm will be visible from. This is based on the height levels of the surrounding countryside and is meant as an indication only.

Kelmarsh Windfarm Visibility

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

The Kelmarsh Windfarm (if passed by the planning department) will be visible from a considerable distance

The proposed Kelmarsh Windfarm is situated adjacent to the site of Battle of Naseby, rated at one of the most significant events in our country’s history

The Battlefield Monument The Naseby Battlefield Monument

As the Kelmarsh Windfarm turbines will be over 400 feet tall - that’s more than twice as high as Nelson’s Column - and are being built on one the county’s highest points, they will not only be seen from neighbouring villages but also from up to 25 miles away. We have calculated that these extremely tall turbines - the highest currently allowed - will be visible from places such as

  • KELMARSH
  • HASELBECH
  • NASEBY
  • LAMPORT
  • MAIDWELL
  • CLIPSTON
  • BRIXWORTH
  • COLD ASHBY
  • MARKET HARBOROUGH
  • DESBOROUGH
  • ROTHWELL
  • MAWSLEY

As the A14 passes within metres of the proposed Kelmarsh windfarm site, they will be a highly visible distraction for drivers, and we believe a potential accident hazard as the sun glints off those massive 90 metre blades.
