SAY NO TO KELMARSH HALL WINDFARM

Will I be able to see the proposed Kelmarsh Wind Farm?

If you live within 25 miles of Kelmarsh, the simple answer to that is YES. As the Kelmarsh Wind Farm turbines will be over 400 feet tall - that’s more than twice as high as Nelson’s Column - and are being built on one the county’s highest points, they will not only be seen from neighbouring villages but also from up to 25 miles away.

Click the link below to see the location of the turbines, based on e-on’s planning application - the turbines in these mock-up photos are exactly to scale –

Turbine Location Plan

Just how big are the proposed turbines?

The proposed turbines will be 120 metres (400 feet) tall, which is the maximum currently allowed by law. That makes them about the same height as a 30 storey block of flats and the Express Lift tower in Northampton.

The sweep of the enormous 90 metre blades would be big enough to fly a 747 jumbo jet through!

As the A14 passes within metres of the proposed Kelmarsh windfarm site, they will be a highly visible distraction for drivers, creating a potential accident hazard as the sun glints off those massive 90 metre blades.
